About the EYPP
If your child is in receipt of 15 hours of early learning for families receiving some additional forms of support, you may also be eligible for Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP). Please ask your childcare provider to check your child’s eligibility.
EYPP is an additional government funding for early years education providers to support disadvantaged children aged 9 months to 4 years. Providers receive up to £570 per year for eligible children to use for things like extra resources, staff training, and learning activities to help prepare children for school. Eligibility is based on family income or specific benefits received.
Eligibility
Your child's provider may be eligible if you receive certain benefits, such as:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA)
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Support under part six of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- Other forms of support for low-income families
The EYPP is only available for the first 15 hours of funded childcare a child receives.
You can find more specific eligibility criteria on the GOV.UK website.
How to apply
You do not apply for EYPP yourself. You need to inform your child's early years provider. They will then be able to claim the extra funding on behalf of your child.
Additional benefits of EYPP
EYPP eligibility automatically provides food vouchers during school holidays, ensuring continued access to nourishing meals.
