Footsteps Trust

Pre 16 provision

Key Stage 3 and 4

Footsteps provides alternative education, through an academic curriculum including; GCSEs in Maths, English, Business Studies, Science, PE, RS, and Art, plus functional skills in maths and English. Academic progress and personal development are our primary focus, but we believe in offering access to sport and vocational activities as part of our courses.

Footsteps Sports Academy

The sports academy offers FA Level 1 coaching awards and sports leaders awards and provides access to a variety of sports including; football, rugby, boxing, table tennis, wrestling, tennis, athletics, weight training and fitness and conditioning training. Competitive matches are part of the curriculum, with Footsteps playing in local football leagues and cups.

Footsteps delivers booster classes to students every day after school, during half term breaks and the Easter holidays. Classes normally have a maximum of 6 students per class, with a teacher and learning mentor. There is also considerable pastoral support including, qualified EAL teachers. Breakfasts and lunches are free to all students.

Footsteps holds regular parent/carer evenings and works closely with parents and referrers to ensure that each individual student has the opportunity to achieve their best outcomes. Weekly reports are sent to the student’s home and referrer.

Inspirational speakers, professionals, organisations, and agencies are brought in to enhance the student's experience via workshops and courses. During their final year, year 11 students are robustly assisted to access places in 6th forms, colleges, training and apprenticeship schemes. This includes identifying suitable courses, assisting with applications, and completing CVs and references.
