Post 16 education in Hackney
We provide information about Hackney school sixth forms and colleges with links to their websites and prospectuses. As part of a new Project Hackney initiative, we are particularly encouraging young people living in or at school in Hackney to consider the local 16-19 courses and providers before looking further afield. All secondary schools and colleges in Hackney have been rated good or outstanding by Ofsted.
Applications for places at Hackney's school sixth forms and colleges should be made directly to the school or college. Applications for places at special schools should go via the Special Educational Needs Team on 020 8820 7326. Applications generally open in the autumn term for courses starting the following September.
Although you are required to participate in education or training until you are 18 you do not have to remain in school. Find out more about raising the participation age.
Most of our school sixth forms have high entry requirements. Colleges may have lower requirements or offer courses that will prepare you for A level study. If you are unlikely to achieve 5 or more GCSEs at grades A* to C you may like to see our directory of alternative pathways which has information about a range of courses and apprenticeships at local colleges and providers.
