Offer process
All of the schools listed on your application will be considered at the same time, regardless of their rank. For each school, your application is prioritised according to their admission criteria. If your child is ranked high enough to be offered a place at more than one school and there are vacancies, we will only offer you the school ranked highest on your application.
As long as we have received all of the information needed to process your application, you should receive an outcome email within 20 school days from the date of your application. The cycle timetable confirms the dates outcome emails will be sent.
If we offer your child a school place, we will email to let you know. The school offered will make an appointment for you to visit them. Please make sure you take proof of ID such as a passport for yourself and the children.
If you are not the parent, the school will need you to clarify whether you have parental responsibilities for the child and the reasons why the child is living with you and not the parent.
How to remain on a waiting list
If your child is offered a place but you still want them to be considered for other Hackney schools, you must email us to ask for your child to remain on the waiting list. This will be confirmed in your outcome email.
If your child is not offered a place at any of the schools listed on your application, they will automatically be placed on the waiting list for your preferred schools. You will still receive an outcome email which will include further information about schools with vacancies and your statutory right to appeal.
We will automatically remove all pupils from the waiting list at the end of every school year (July). If you would like your child to remain on the waiting list for the new school year you must reapply from 1 August.
Appealing a school's decision
You have a right of appeal for any school where a place has not been offered.
