What are in-year admissions?
In-year admissions are applications made for school places at any time during the school year. We process applications on a two weekly cycle.
How to apply
- Check the vacancy lists to see if there is a vacancy at your chosen school
- Complete the online form below to apply for a school place
- If your child is currently on roll or just recently left a primary or secondary school in the UK you must ask the school to complete a Part 2 form. The link to the Part 2 form is available in the application confirmation email
Current vacancies
Please note that these lists will be updated on a 2/3 weekly basis. If you are interested in a school that currently has places, you should bear in mind that the school may already have a waiting list and you will be competing for a place with other applicants.
Make an application
Please note, The Olive School is not part of Hackney Education in-year scheme. If you wish to apply for a place at this school, you should visit The Olive School website for more information and an application form.
Required documentation
You are required to provide one of the following as proof of address:

- TV licence issued in the last 12 months

Children educated out of their normal age group
If your child is currently educated out of their normal age group and you would like this to continue, or you would like them to be educated in a different year group, you can make a request by uploading information to your online application or emailing us.
Where possible, you should provide evidence from relevant professionals working with your child/family that demonstrates why it is their best interest to be placed outside their normal age group.
Please ensure that you apply in the normal way, using the correct date of birth for your child.
For community schools, Hackney Education will decide whether the request will be agreed on the basis of the information submitted. For academies and religious schools, the academy trust or governing body will make the decision. In all cases, Hackney Education will confirm what year group your application will be processed for.
