Service update - children's centres

Services currently offered

Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, children’s centres are currently delivering essential services to children and their families. Children’s centres are adhering to robust COVID-19 compliant practice in line with the Government guidance for Early Years.


Children's Centres are open offering child care to all children. The number of available places may be limited to help minimise the risk of COVID -19 infection. Please check with individual centres.

Extended services

  • Small indoor and outdoor stay and play sessions (please check with individual centres as booking may be necessary)
  • Online activities delivered through social media and live sessions
  • Home learning resources
  • Access to vouchers (Rose and Foodbank)
  • Healthy Start Vitamins
  • Toy library
  • Book library
  • Family support 

Other services

Services such as Midwifery (antenatal and postnatal appointments), joint working with the Health Visiting Service to support new parents, Child Health Clinics, Citizen Advice Bureau (CAB), Speech and Language, and Adult learning courses are currently being provided by various children’s centres in partnership with other partner agencies.
