Service update - children's centres

Services currently offered

Due to the current coronavirus pandemic, children’s centres are currently delivering essential services to children and their families. Children’s centres are adhering to robust COVID-19 compliant practice in line with the Government guidance for Early Years.


All children's centres that are registered to provide childcare, are currently open and supporting children and parents with full-time or part-time childcare.

Extended Services

  • Stay and play sessions through small group work (by invitation or appointment only)
  • Online activities delivered through social media and live sessions
  • Home learning resources
  • Access to vouchers (Rose and Foodbank)
  • Healthy Start Vitamins
  • Toy library
  • Book library
  • Family support (virtual sessions or telephone contact)

Other services

Services such as Midwifery (antenatal and postnatal appointments), joint working with the Health Visiting Service to support new parents, Child Health Clinics, Citizen Advice Bureau (CAB), Speech and Language, and Adult learning courses are currently being provided by various children’s centres in partnership with other partner agencies.
