Apply for a place after the start of the school year

Offer process

If we offer your child a school place, we will write and tell you. The school offered will make an appointment for you to visit them. Please make sure you take proof of ID such as a passport for yourself and the children.

If you are not the parent, the school will need you to clarify whether you have parental responsibilities for the child and the reasons why the child is living with you and not the parent.

How to remain on a waiting list

All your preferences will be considered at the same time, regardless of its rank. A letter should be sent within 20 school days to let you know the outcome of your application. If you are not offered a place at your preferred school, we will let you know the names of schools in Hackney with vacancies. Once a place is offered, your child's name will be removed from the waiting list for all schools unless you request in writing that they remain on the list.

We will automatically remove all pupils from the waiting list at the end of every school year (July). If you would like your child to remain on the waiting list for the new school year you must reapply from 1 August.

Appealing a school's decision

You have a right of appeal for any school where a place has not been offered.
